1. What are the times for the BRC classes?
It depends on which class you register for, class schedule is in the blue background area , on the registration page. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your class start time.

2. What is the price for the BRC course?

3. Do I need a motorcycle to take the BRC?
No, we will provide a motorcycle for you to use.

4. Do I need a helmet to take the BRC?
No, we provide helmets for the class.

5. Do I need a motorcycle permit to take the BRC?
No, you do not need a motorcycle "learning" permit to take this course.

6. Do I need a driver's license to take the BRC?
If you are 18+ years of age, you do not need a driver's license. If you are under 18, you must have at least a learner's permit.

7. What if my driver's license is from out of state?
It does not matter. You may take the course.

8. What do I need to bring to class?

  • 1) Sturdy over-the-ankle low-heeled footwear (boots or high-top shoes). It is best to stay away from boots with very thick toes such as steel toed boots or high heels.
    What will work: Motorcycle boots, cowboy boots, most hiking boots.
    What will NOT work: Regular sneakers, Converse basketball shoes (not "sturdy"). Basically any shoes that do not FULLY cover the ankle and/or are not sturdy.
  • 2) Long non-flare denim pants or material of equivalent or better durability
  • 3) Long-sleeved shirt or jacket (remember summer temperatures, light colors are better)
  • 4) Eye protection (sunglasses, prescription glasses, goggles, or a helmet with a face shield) Remember, we do provide helmets, but you may bring your own if you wish and if it's at least D.O.T. approved.

In addition, we also SUGGEST that you bring:
- Non-alcoholic beverage to drink (water is supplied at both the classroom and range)
- Snack food
- Rain Gear if you have it if there is a chance of rain
- Sun block

9. May I bring and wear my personal helmet?
Yes, provided it is undamaged and DOT approved.

10. May I ride my own motorcycle in the BRC?
Yes, if certain criteria is met. Call us for more information regarding this.

11. May I ride my own scooter in the BRC?
Yes, if certain criteria is met. Call us for more information regarding this.

12. Does the BRC waive the driving portion of the DPS test?
Your BRC certificate should waive the driving portion of the Texas DPS test. You will still be required to take a written exam and a vision test at DPS.

13. What if it rains during the class?
We get wet. Classes are very seldom ever canceled. During lightening storms, the class may be postponed until it passes, however, we do continue class if it’s just raining.

14. How old do I need to be to take the BRC?
You must be at least 15 years old on the day class begins. Also, if you are 15-17 years old, you must have at least a learner's permit or above. Minors (under 18) must also have parental/guardian consent forms signed.

15. How many students are in a class?
No more than 8. However, The Motorcycle School will run a class with as few as 4 people enrolled.

16. Will I automatically get my M class (motorcycle) license when I pass this course?
No, after successfully completing this course, you must take your certificate to the Department of Public Safety. There you must pass their written examination as well as a vision test to get your Motorcycle (M) Endorsement.

17. What size/type of motorcycle will I be training on?
We offer a large selection of training bikes. Most bikes will be 250cc or less

18. What kind of guarantee is there that I'll get my certificate?
Absolutely none. We will give you all of the tools to learn to ride, including top-of-the-line Rider Coaches, equipment and facilities, but it is up to you to apply and use these tools to the best of your ability. We will do everything we can, you must take care of the rest.

19. What forms of payment do you accept?
Online or on the Phone - Visa, MasterCard, American Expressand Discover.
By Mail - Personal or Business Check, Money Order, Cashier's Check. Cash in person.

20. What are the prices for the ERC course?
$80.00

21. Do I need a motorcycle to take the ERC?
Yes, the motorcycle must be owned by you or you need a letter from the owner giving permission to use the bike in the ERC.

22. Do I need a helmet to take the ERC?
While it is preferred you bring/wear your own helmet, we do have helmets for loan during class.

23. Do I need a motorcycle license to take the ERC?
Yes, you MUST have a VALID driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement. And yes, these will be checked at the beginning of the class.

24. What if my motorcycle license is expired?
You MUST have a VALID motorcycle license to take this course. If your license is expired, you will need to renew it before coming to class. If you do not have a motorcycle endorsement on your license, you will need to take the Basic RiderCourse first and get your M endorsement beforehand.

25. What do I need to bring to class for the ERC?

    You MUST provide:

  • - Your street-legal motorcycle along with proof of insurance and ownership. (All motorcycles must pass a       pre-ride safety inspection (TCLOCS)).
  • - A VALID Driver's License with a motorcycle endorsement.
  • - Over-the-ankle footwear (boots or high-top shoes)
  • - Long non-flare denim pants or material of equivalent or better durability
  • - Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
  • - Full-fingered gloves, preferably leather, however any type of gloves will work as long as they are full-fingered
  • - Eye protection (sunglasses, prescription glasses, goggles, or a helmet with a face shield)
  • - DOT approved Helmet - DOT approval is dependent solely upon the Rider Coach’s decision. (We do have       loaner helmets available if needed)
  • We SUGGEST that you also bring:

  • - Non-alcoholic beverage to drink (water is supplied at both the classroom and range)
  • - Snack food
  • - Rain Gear if you have it
  • - Sun block

26. What is a TCLOCS inspection?

  • TCLOCS is a pre-ride inspection covering:
  • T - Tires and Wheels (air pressure, tread, cracks, dents, loose spokes, bearings and brakes)
  • C - Controls (levers, switches, cables, hoses, and throttle)
  • L - Lights and Electrics (working condition)
  • O - Oil and Other Fluids (levels and leaks)
  • C - Chassis (suspension and drive components)
  • S - Sidestand
  • Your bike must pass a T-CLOCS inspection by the Rider Coach to be used.
